Subarctic

There’s an incessant, ancient rhythm here - happening whether or not we’re there to witness it. A wilderness that’s been left alone, and I mean truly… left alone. And it’s this lack of development that makes us feel closer to nature; it makes us question if we really need any of the things we have back home. Like a mirage, Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge appears. Almost like it doesn’t belong but upon closer look, it’s a fixture. Like the lamp on your bedside table, you can’t quite get around without it, efficiently that is. Nanuk is a part of this place.

Access to some of the last wild places is indeed a luxury of its own kind. And I’m grateful to have experienced just a morsel of it.

A collection of images from my time at Nanuk with Churchill Wild Safaris.
